The heart of the Millennium Technology Pointe telecommunications network is its own Central Office.  Housed in this building are the fiber optic terminations from two carriers, internal MTP fiber optic terminations, telecommunications equipment and a backup telecommunications power supply.

MTP is connected to the state wide Georgia Public Web and Windstream with the potential for more.  These carriers, in turn, are connected to major IXC's, the internet and other ILECs and CLECs.  Multiple connections are beneficial to you in that they enable you to have carrier redundancy and service protection through their self healing SONET networks.  They also provide direct access to the Points of Presence of major carriers and diverse high speed internet access lines.

MTP is encircled with a fiber optic distribution system.  This architecture permits redundant fiber optic access into you facility and high speed connections to off campus carriers.

Dial-tone service is available from Windstream, the local telephone company.  A VoIP alternative wil also be available in the near future.  Either way, dial-tone distribution on the MTP campus is through reliable and quiet fiber optic connections.
